Interior decorating for the Surf Life Saving Lottery prize home
SKYTOWER APARTMENT
Brisbane CBD
Decorating a 2-bedroom + study apartment in Brisbane CBD’s Skytower complex, on the 69th floor. This home was part of the Surf Life Saving Lottery prize pool.
With 180-degree views of the heart of Brisbane, I had the exciting opportunity to create a fresh, contemporary look that would appeal to young, city-dwelling professionals. The final look was crucial for incentivising people to buy a ticket and go in the draw to win the home.
Brief
With 180-degree views of the heart of Brisbane, I had the exciting opportunity to create a fresh, contemporary look that would appeal to young, city-dwelling professionals. The final look was crucial for incentivising people to buy a ticket and go in the draw to win the home.
Process
- Colour palette mainly consisted of cobalt blues, greys and mustards.
- Design concept was based on a luxury look with black accents, glass and a bit of bling
- Added textural elements via linen, velvets, dense rugs and curved furniture to complement the apartment’s innate style
- Celebrating local and Australian suppliers, I selected an artwork painted by a Melbourne artist to be the statement piece in the main living area.
- I opted for a glass dining table to maximise the views and illusion of space.
- Swivel chairs were added to the living room for a modern touch of funk.
- Kept the main bedroom low-key elegant with floor-to-ceiling curtains to enhance its comfort and soft serenity.
Challenges
- Unusual layout – To capture the best marketing photos and ensure a natural floor plan flow, I swapped the lounge room with the dining room. This opened up the space and allowed better access to the stunning views.
- Tricky access – Getting access to the loading dock was difficult, alongside choosing furniture items that would fit into a lift.
